Job description
Role: Lead Service Designer
Home Office
Salary: £68,699 to £75,566
Grade: G6
Location: London
At the Home Office, our task is simple - to keep the UK safe. Doing this means working across a huge range of projects, dealing with some of the most high-profile and important issues the country faces. But protecting millions of people requires robust research, analysis and insight that can help us make the right decisions. If you're talented, tenacious and forward-thinking, you'll find yourself in good company. Join us at the heart of government, take advantage of huge opportunities and help us build an unrivalled department.
As Service Design Lead, you'll advise and empower teams to deliver user friendly, accessible and valuable services across Law Enforcement. This involves working with interaction designers, content designers, user researchers, product managers and delivery managers, as well as the wider roles within PPPT, to steer user research and design activities to understand user needs.
Joining our Centre for Digital Design leadership team, you will take responsibility for the profession across PPPT by setting the standards for what 'good' looks like. To achieve this, you will work closely with our programme directors and managers as well as our policing partners and wider stakeholders. On a day to day, you will report to the Head of CDD and you'll work as part of the leadership team working with other leads to establish and steer PPPT into a truly product-centric organisation. You are also responsible to support the wider Service Design community across DDAT ensuring insight and best practice in the context of Law Enforcement is shared.
To apply, you'll need experience in service design leadership and direction. You'll be able to advise on the design of evidence-based solutions to complex problems, with hands on experience in implementation. Line management and stakeholder management experience are both essential.
Ideally, you'll also have experience in growing a team, working in an agile environment and working with the GDS service standard.
Whatever your role at the Home Office, we'll support your career plans and evolve your skills with exceptional tools, training and coaching. There's also a wealth of opportunity to move around and work across different departments. As a Civil Service employee, you'll be entitled to a wide range of benefits, including generous annual leave, flexible working, childcare and travel allowances, numerous staff networks and clubs, onsite facilities and a Civil Service pension.
Apply before 11:55 pm on Wednesday 24th November 2021
