Job description
Who we're looking for
• In-house lawyer in Distribution and Product Legal Team within the London Group Legal Team.
• PQE: 0-3 years
• 12 month fixed term contract (six month break clause)
• From one of the leading London law firms that serve the asset management industry, or with in-house experience of equivalent quality
• UK and/or Luxembourg (and other EU) intermediary distribution experience essential
• UK and/or Luxembourg (and other EU) authorised funds experience useful but not essential
• Must be a good team player, have a very high quality legal skills base and be sufficiently confident with internal and external clients

The base
We moved into our new headquarters at London Wall Place, in the City of London, in 2018. We're close to our clients, in the heart of the UK's financial centre, while having everything in place to work flexibly.
What you'll do
• Drafting and negotiating distribution, dealing, and platform agreements for UK, French, German and other EU-based intermediary clients in relation to the sale of UK and Luxembourg domicile UCITS and AIF funds pan Europe and globally. Advising on the relevant legal and regulatory issues (including MiFID, AML, Anti-bribery etc). Leading and advising Trainees and junior para-legals. Frequent interaction with London and Luxembourg Distribution support teams.
• Joining where necessary in the Team's work of advising the Luxembourg and UK management companies and Distribution colleagues on upcoming regulatory changes.
• Assisting with the drafting and negotiating service provider agreements (management, custody, transfer agency, administration, fund accounting, advisory etc) and other ancillary agreements (NDAs, power of attorney).
• Contributing to (i) ongoing projects run within Group Legal and (ii) other ad hoc projects related to regulatory and Schroder Group Policy changes across the business.
• Provide legal advice and guidance to Client Directors, Client Executives and other Distribution colleagues.
• Liaise with Product Development, Operations (especially the UK and Luxembourg teams), Compliance, Transitions, Risk, all other relevant departments (in the UK and internationally across the Group) where necessary to complete documentation, advice and projects.
• Contribute to management information, administration, filing and documentation systems within Group Legal.
The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need
• Demonstrable relevant experience - 0-3 years PQE
• Excellent drafting skills and experience in contract negotiation.
• Some demonstrable knowledge of UCITS and/or AIF authorised fund products
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Excellent attention to detail and procedure.
• An up to date understanding of (i) the legal and regulatory risks associated with the financial services industry and (ii) current proposed changes to EU legislation
• Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise with staff at different levels.
• Genuinely pro-active and keen to take responsibility.
• Strong organisational/prioritisation skills
• A real team player

• Fluent business French and/or German (useful but not essential)
