About the department
The Estates and Facilities Directorate is responsible for the delivery of the Estates and Infrastructure Strategy which covers the areas of major construction and refurbishment projects; facilities operation and space management, including timetabling and energy management. The Directorate aims to ensure that the quality, functionality and operation of the estate and its associated infrastructure meets the needs of its users and supports the activities of SOAS.
About the role
The Maintenance Technicians role is to support the Maintenance and Compliance Manager and Senior Engineer in delivering maintenance, reactive repair and minor works whilst ensuring the Health and Safety of the SOAS environment for the students, staff and visitors. The Maintenance Technician will work as part of a wider team and will report to the Maintenance and Compliance Manager.
The post holder needs to be aware of the nature of the spaces and to be able to work with a diligent and professional attitude. A key purpose of the role is to carry out duties to ensure service level agreements and statutory agreements are met. The role holder will have a commitment to providing excellent customer service to enhance the Estate and the student experience alongside working with internal and external stakeholders and tenants on a regular basis.

- Able to follow instruction and work flexibly and positively within a team
- The ability to work to a routine with minimum supervision
- Use of own initiative
- Ability to communicate with a wide range of staff
- Computer literate
- Ability to work as part of a team
