It has been agreed that our AstraZeneca UK Commercial head office will move from Luton to Pancras Square, London in early 2022. This role will be initially based in our Luton office, until this move takes place.

*What you'll do*
In this role as the MAL for Acute Cardiovascular you will develop, lead and implement world class medical strategy which drives scientific leadership & clinical practice change at scale.
*Accountabilities Include:*
* Lead the medical & scientific strategy to advance clinical practice in alignment with brand & business objectives
* Lead portfolio launch strategy & execution (pre and peri launch), healthcare system & pathway change strategy, practice changing & real world evidence, and omnichannel education initiatives
* Provide strategic leadership to enable delivery of field medical objectives and KPIs through Field Medical Teams (MSL team and/or Medical Educator Team), aligned to national and regional cross-functional field team objectives
* Support the Medical & Scientific input to business strategic and operational planning, including support of Policy team agenda
* Support high level external stakeholder engagement with external experts, professional societies and patient groups.
* Support delivery of clinical insight, customer focus and clinical governance into commercial objectives
* Represent UK in the Regional & Global Medical affairs teams for defined therapy area
* Essential Skills and Experience*
* Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline (ex: Medicine, Pharmacy or disease related science)
* Track record of leadership across the medical-marketing interface
* Extensive patient and customer insight through experience of working with the NHS (or similar health system)
* Proven ability to influence and interact with external customers
* Evidence of effective team working and accountability
* Understanding of the ABPI code of practice
*Desirable*
* Higher degree such as MPHARM, MSc, PhD in a scientific discipline
* Registered Physician (preferably GMC) or Pharmacist (General Pharmaceutical Council)
* Member/Fellow of a Royal College or the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
* Prior experience in a Medical Affairs role.
* Technical expertise in the allocated disease/therapy area
* Extensive experience of the UK pharmaceutical industry
* Hold or acquired Nominated Signatory status (within 6 months)
* Extensive experience in clinical trials & evidence generation
