Job Summary

To deliver a high standard of patient care as Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) in a private general practice setting in central London.

The right candidate will be required to manage a caseload of patients presenting to the service and undertake history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatments / evaluations including minor injury and illness assessment, wound care and dressings, ear syringing, cervical smears and contraceptive advice, venepuncture, travel risk assessment and vaccination and other clinical duties of the role.

Essential Job Duties

Primary Responsibilities

Maintain the highest standards of primary health nursing care
Provide day to day nursing cover
Coordinate defined primary nursing care activities
Maintain up to date knowledge on all professional nursing matters
Maintain accurate confidential health records
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation in line with CQC

Secondary Responsibilities

Provide direct access to a NP / PN, both in the clinic and over the telephone;
Provide a first point of contact within the clinic for patients presenting with undifferentiated, undiagnosed problems, making use of skills in history taking, physical examination, problem-solving and clinical decision-making, to establish a diagnosis and management plan;
Instigate diagnostic tests or investigations and interpret findings/reports
If an independent prescriber: to prescribe safe, effective and appropriate medication as defined by current legislative framework and local guidance in the form of the practice formulary and clinical protocols;
Refer patients directly to other services/agencies as appropriate;
Provide advice on overseas travel and vaccinations
Infection control for primary care;stock control for vaccines and emergency drugs
Education and Experience Requirements
Practice Nurse experience (3 years minimum)
Minimum 5 years post registration experience
Nurse-led management of minor illness, minor ailments and injuries
Nurse-led triage
Travel health advice and immunisations against PGDs
Compiling protocols and clinical guidelines
Able to undertake clinical Audit
Nurse prescriber V300
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience of working in a commercial environment preferable but not essential
Proven ability to work autonomously as well as in a team
NMC Registered and compliant with NMC nurse revalidation requirements
IT literate
