Operational Risk - Electronic Trading/Market Making - London, UK

Role

Broad remit, with the incoming Operational Risk Analyst having the opportunity to significantly contribute to existing initiatives as well as to upcoming projects.

Responsibilities

• RCSAs: to support and challenge the business in documenting and reporting their risks and controls via the Company's Risk & Control Self Assessments (RCSAs).
• Supporting the Senior Operational Risk Analyst in delivering the Operational Risk Framework.
• Developing the business control environment.
• Overseeing the key risk indicators and operational loss events to generate useful MI for the business.
• Reviewing loss events for operational weakness via root cause analysis and make recommendations to reduce or mitigate risks identified.
• Undertaking independent risk assurance reviews, testing that the business has a robust control framework in place and is adhering to relevant policies and procedures
• Assisting the Senior Operational Risk Analyst in the co-ordination of the company's annual plan for Pillar II operational risk capital calculation, including scenario definition, business challenge, capital modelling and reporting in line with the Group's annual plan.
• Producing operational risk management information for senior management.
• Coordinating the firm's Recovery & Resolution Plans as required under the Group's ICAAP requirements
• Maintaining, and updating, the company's risk appetite statements so that they comply with the latest regulatory changes.
• Engaging in, and assisting in, key risk projects, such as the Investment Prudential Regime, Operational Resilience & Financial Climate Risk
• Proposing enhancements and improvements to the metrics for the reporting of operational risk Management Information.
• Maintaining and reviewing Operational Risk policies & procedures.
• Responding to ad-hoc queries from internal and external stakeholders.
• Developing strong positive working relationships with all departments.
• Providing support to the Risk team, in respect of team-wide responsibilities.
• Building and maintaining a strong culture of compliance, risk management, integrity, client focus and other such matters.

Required Experience

• Strong academic background.
• At least three years' experience in an Operational Risk.
• Experience developing, and implementing, controls to mitigate the risks associated with a significant retail customer base.
• Existing experience developing and implementing controls to mitigate technology/cyber risks (desired but not essential)
• Good communicator who is comfortable working with internal stakeholders of all levels.
• Proactive mindset, with ability to challenge existing processes and put ideas forward.
• Highly analytical with strong attention to detail.
