Job description

The Dental Wellness Trust is hiring a part time Grant Writer to be responsible for growing and sustaining the organization. The Dental Wellness Trust is a non-profit charitable organization committed to improving the oral health of school children, but implementing supervised toothbrushing programmes.

The Grant Writer is responsible for actively supporting the fund development of The Dental Wellness Trust. The successful candidate will be able to craft funding proposals and reports in a clear and compelling manner. Excellent writing, analytical, and research skills are essential. Candidates must be self-motivated, detail oriented, highly organized, and have experience using online databases and other sources to locate biographical, financial, and philanthropic information. The Grant Writer will work closely with the Charity founder, Dr Linda Greenwall and the Trustee'.

This includes but is not limited to assisting in the annual appeal, major gift solicitation, writing grants, planned giving, strategic planning and planning events.

Role and Responsibilities include the following:

• Grant Writing - Solicits and writes proposals and reports for local grants, government funding as well as private foundations and Global grants. Persuasively communicating the organization's mission and programs to potential funders.

• Conducting prospect research; Assembling and submitting grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations.

• Establishing and maintaining personal contact and relationships with foundation contacts and program officers; Ensuring prompt acknowledgement of gifts.

• Major Gift/Donor Support - Produce major donor, board and special category solicitations/ support materials with the intent to retain or upgrade gifts when possible. Works with program staff to develop reports and funding related projects.

• Cultivates donors by producing specialized correspondences, preparing letters of acknowledgment, Organizes individual donor campaigns (e.g. major donors, direct mail, and matching gifts).

• Maintaining calendar to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines, and reports.

• Implement Planned Giving Program - Track progress of pending Legacy and Bequest gifts. Fulfill requests, produce correspondences and encourage partial/early disbursement where appropriate.

Candidate requirements:

• Proven track record of achieving revenue targets

• Familiarity with Public Health would be an advantage

• A high level of computer literacy required, including Fundraising databases, Microsoft Office programs, Outlook, and Google

• Candidates must possess an ability to work well under pressure and the ability to work to ones initiative

• Excellent research, organizational and communications skills with demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively

• High energy, positive, "can-do" attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail

• Ability to develop and manage budgets and prepare financial reports.
