Autistica is the UK's national autism research charity. We create breakthroughs that enable every autistic person to live a happy, healthy and long life. About the role
The Philanthropy and Events Officer will join our fundraising team, supporting the team in a variety of ways, including:
Conducting prospect research, to help us identify new key supporter opportunities
Event management of special donor cultivation events and participation events across all income lines
Identifying appropriate ways to inform and inspire, producing propositions, products, messaging, cases for support, reports and digital infographics that can support our communications and fundraising
Providing best-in-class donor stewardship to our key community and Challenge Event supporters as well as our '1 in a 100 Club' Major Donor Supporters
You will report into the Supporter Engagement supporting the work of the wider team in development and stewardship of Major Donors, Corporates, Trust & Foundations, Community and Challenge Event as needed through events
The ideal candidate will be a creative problem solver, who enjoys giving bespoke donor stewardship to key supporters that have the potential to become high-value supporters. You will enjoy working on event development and management, understanding how special events and sponsored events can be used in a donor development cycle. You will enjoy researching donor prospects, fundraising prospects and be confident in feeding back to teams about where the best opportunities lie. You will enjoy the rapid pace of a nimble fundraising team and you will be comfortable with making decisions quickly, working off your own initiative, and having variety in your work.
Job Location
We are presently working from home but are hoping to move towards a blended working pattern, where you will work partly from our London office, as well as from home (or wherever else you enjoy working from!)
Role responsibilities
Provide quality donor stewardship by delivering donor touchpoints and asks, as part of a key donor engagement calendar, including communicating with donors via phone, email, letters, in-person and at events
Work with the Head of Major Gifts to develop and manage a series of cultivation events to help drive high-value prospects along the pipeline
Support the fundraising team to create an engaging digital and face to face events calendar across all income lines
Work with colleagues across the organisation, to identify funding opportunities that excite and engage high-value donors.
Work with colleagues within the Fundraising team to develop propositions and offerings to key donors on an ongoing basis
Work with Supporter Engagement Manager to identify key prospects for the Autistica Philanthropy programme from the Individual Giving database thus ensuring an ongoing pipeline of donors.
Carry out prospect research to determine major donor prospects from our database, Raisers Edge
Support senior management team staff/ volunteer leaders in advance of meetings with prospects and supporters by writing briefing and debriefing documents and lead on appropriate follow-up.
Work with the Supporter Engagement Manager on campaign planning
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of relationships on our database, Raiser's Edge, working in compliance with GDPR and Fundraising regulations
