Job description

Are you a Teacher with experience educating primary aged children with autism based in West London near Southall, borough of Ealing?

Tradewind are currently recruiting for a Teacher for a primary school with a small key stage 2 SEN class. The mainstream primary school and its SEN base are on the same site in Southall, Ealing. The role is full time and will start immediately following a successful trial day on a long-term basis until July 2022 and may continue on a longer term or even permanent basis beyond that. The class is Key Stage 2 in terms of ages, and experience with teaching, supporting and differentiating lessons for students with autism (ASD), moderate learning difficulties (MLD) and other speech, language and communication needs is beneficial.

The school is a Good Ofsted rated school and the SEN base caters for around 22 pupils aged 4-11.

Essential requirements:

QTS

Experience teaching young people with autism.

Experience using, or knowledge of PECS, Makaton, ABA, Intensive interaction as students are non-verbal.

Positive and friendly approach to both students and fellow staff and teaching assistants.

A caring and professional manner.

Must have legal right to work in the UK.

The main responsibility of this highly rewarding role is to plan and lead lessons in a small class, delegating to support staff and engaging with the educational and social needs of pupils with autism and other needs.

You will be teaching the National curriculum which is differentiated to focus on the individual ability and need of each pupil. Each pupil has a learning plan which is individualised with various targets and achievements to aim for, including academic, life skills and behavioural.

Students are engaged in a variety of ways in and out of the classroom including sessions with speech and language therapists, Occupational Therapist and Educational Psychologists.

The school is within walking distance from a train station and is easily accessible by a number of bus routes.
