What you'll do

Police Now is seeking a Programme Delivery Events Officer to work as part of the Programmes Team. This is a time of critical change for Police Now and an opportunity to reshape our programmes in order that they genuinely deliver the highest quality of leadership development and enable participants to have a real impact in our communities.

This role will include taking on significant levels of responsibility for elements of the end-to-end Project Management and operational delivery of Police Now's NGLP and NDP programmes. Along with members of the Curriculum and Performance & Impact Development teams the role will also have significant levels of responsibility for delivering the two-year programme. A core element of the role is responsibility for the recruitment of operational police officers who are seconded to Police Now for the duration of our Academies. These are operational Police/Detective Sergeants and Inspectors who are heavily involved in the initial training of Police Now participants. They play a key role in the leadership of participants during their academy training as well as providing operational training.

This role will provide the opportunity to be involved in the development of leadership development within policing on a national scale and to be genuinely innovative at a time when leadership development within policing has never been more critical. Core to success in the role will be the ability to develop and introduce innovative elements to the programme which serve to both attract individuals of the highest ability to the police service and to enable those individuals to then have a material impact in the communities that they serve.

The end-to-end programme includes participant's initial police training and leadership development Academy, their core legislative learning leading up to the Academy (delivered digitally), and the programme through their first two years as a police officer. Critically important will be ensuring that the Programme genuinely drives participants to develop as leaders on the policing frontline and to have an impact in communities by reducing crime, reducing anti-social behaviour, and increasing the public's confidence in policing.

Your role will be

Recruiting operational officers from partner forces for secondment to Police Now to lead participants through the Academy periods. The main task of such will be attracting and identifying the right candidates for these critical roles and conducting interviews alongside force partners.
Running a clear onboarding communication process of all officers from appointment to Syndicate Lead Course.
Evaluating the processes and procedures and be able to reflect on such in order to make changes. This will range from evaluating the recruitment process to evaluating the effectiveness of seconded officers.
Accountable for elements of the end-to-end Project Management and operational delivery of Police Now's programmes
Effectively deliver numerous work strands, workstreams and tasks ensuring effective delivery against urgent deadlines.
Planning and the operational delivery of events throughout the year and across the country.
Work closely with various teams including the Recruitment & Marketing and Strategy & Insights team to enable the analysis of data to drive improvements in performance by participants and by Police Now.
Leading the planning and execution of effective communications plans for participants, working with the Recruitment & Marketing team to improve the on-boarding of participants pre-academy
Managing and administering our online learning platform, including timetabling, the setting and marking of assessments, and participant notifications
Contributing to the building of effective and long-lasting relationships with our force partners, stakeholders in policing and the home affairs sector, and our participants by providing. In particular this will require the role holder to work closely with the Force Partnerships team so they are able to deliver their responsibilities with our force partners.
Conducting rapid-review evaluation processes at both design and delivery points, always aiming for a consistently high-quality leadership development and police training experience.
Troubleshooting any problems and feedback improvements for immediate or long-term effect.
Being part of the Academy delivery team during one of our delivery phases (summer or winter).

What you'll need

An undergraduate degree.
Recent programme/project management or events operations experience.
Analytical mindset with high levels of resilience and ability to manage ambiguity.
Lots of energy and enthusiasm, to see you through when activity spikes at various points during the year.
Strong personal organisation and prioritisation, with the ability to work independently.
Excellent written and oral communication, and outstanding attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with senior stakeholders both internal and external.
Great problem-solving skills and the ability to foresee, manage and mitigate risk.
Excellent attention to detail.
Excellent IT skills.
Willingness to travel within England and Wales and to work occasional weekends and evenings as required for the successful delivery of the Programmes.
Willingness to be away from home for the working week during the delivery phases of residential academy training and/or events.

Please note

This role will involve working a minimum of 3 days a week at our London office, as well as travel nationally as and when required for events.
