It's vital work that can only happen with the right support. As a PC Engineer, you'll provide that by being on hand to keep our PCs running as they should be. At NPL, we touch ordinary lives in extraordinary ways and you could too.PCs are essential to the smooth and efficient running of our organisation. You'll provide and maintain the PC/IT Hardware, as well as manage the repairs and oversee disposals, so that our people focus on their work with minimum disruption. Installing, configuring, maintaining and disposing end-user devices; maintaining stock levels; troubleshooting and repairing faults and updating record and maintenance logs will all be your responsibility. And, as technology evolves, you'll keep up-to-date with any developments, advising and guiding us as to what we can do better to remain at the forefront of our industry.As an experienced Systems Engineer, you have both the expertise and customer focus to deliver added-value technical support. Able to juggle a busy workload, you are used to prioritising tasks and can communicate complex information in an easy-to-understand way.Beyond that, we're looking for someone who'll thrive in an environment like ours. Together, we're helping make the impossible, possible.We are looking to develop our support of end user science systems and are looking for someone who has the necessary experience and skills to work closely with NPL's Scientists on installing, upgrading and troubleshooting mainly Windows and Linux based PC instrument control and data acquisition hardware and software. The candidate will support PC hardware running a wide range of scientific software and hardware including LabVIEW, MATLAB and COMSOL and undertake hardware refreshes of such systems.
