Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and self-motivated Special Needs Teacher to join an outstanding Special School in Barnet, North-West London. This is a full-time role commencing in January 2022 for a year maternity cover. It is likely that if you do well in this school, a permanent contract will be offered at the end of the maternity cover.

The school, based in Barnet, North-West London, offers innovative and personalised provision of learning for every student. To achieve this, staff work together to achieve high standards of teaching and learning whilst focusing on flourishing well being. The school adopts trauma informed and restorative practices to support this learning through a positive education lens. The school offers an opportunity for students to improve literacy and numeracy skills, make links to vocational pathways and build positive relationships through strengths-based curriculum.

The students in the school have Autism and Moderate Learning needs; they are all verbal and very independent. The children are all learning on an alternative curriculum which will give them the best chance of improving their life skills and social skills.

Within this role you will be responsible for:

Teaching a group of 10 children diagnosed with ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) within either KS1 or KS2.
Planning and delivering lessons in all areas of the curriculum and provide personalised activities to meet the needs of the pupils within your class.
Working collaboratively with the members of support staff in your class to create holistic intervention plans.
Monitoring children's behavioural patterns and arrange appropriate interventions if needed

The successful candidate must have:

QTS, Qualified Teacher Status
DBS + Right to work
Previous SEN experience is desired
Passion for teaching
