Senior Design Manager - Main Contractor - London

£85,000 base salary + £7,000 car allowance + Bonus + Pension + Life Assurance + Travel Paid To Site

Fantastic opportunity with Tier 1 main contractor who work across a variety of sectors, on exciting and challenging projects in London.

They have strong pipeline of work at present and need a Senior Design Manager who proven track of record of work winning / pre-construction stages.

You will be involved from bid stage to delivery. You will manage the design aspect of the bid process and oversee and support the technical design on live projects which will be undertaken your team of Design Managers.

This Southern region is working on projects from £60 million up to £150 million across variety sectors including residential, mix use, commercial schemes and healthcare. My client has a turnover of £980 million, with multiple offices up and down the UK. This cash-rich Contractor is still privately owned with no debts and a large sum in the bank. They have a great family feel and also offer flexible working to all their staff.

Overview of role:

Experience of bid writing / bid management and the development Production of a Contractor's Proposal document in liaison with other internal departments.

Manage the design process during the pre-construction and as required, the construction phase

Experience of different Client procurement routes, in particular 2 stage, PCSA, single stage, hybrid and Framework agreements.

Experience dealing with Planning Awards and the discharge of planning conditions.

Ability to develop design programmes and how design coordinates with procurement and construction

Ability to understand design and risk and managing this through the bid and delivery stages of projects

Ability to bring innovation and bid winning ideas to bid and projects

Experience of procuring consultants including the scope of services, responsibilities, appointments and fees

Experience of line management / managing others - ideally including development / mentoring would be advantageous

Experience of working on multiple projects with a team of DMs.

Experience and understanding of new technologies including SMART buildings and use of digital construction.

Experience and ability to develop relationships with consultants and clients to grow the Kier business.
