They are what we believe, what customers can expect, and how we deliverCareer growth opportunities for a chemical or mechanical engineer, seeking a technical challenge in a fast-paced environment executing the environmental design of a range of facilities including, industrial wastewater treatment and oil and gas projects.Role OverviewExecutes environmental engineering major deliverables according to a set engineering design criteria utilizing approved engineering procedures and practices.Prepares, coordinates, and reviews designs, studies, reports and proposals.Takes the initiative to coordinate the detailed design development of a system with other engineering disciplines while managing workload and meeting schedule due dates.Devises new approaches to technical problems. Knowledgeable of and performs standard discipline engineering activities on projects with minimal technical oversight. Coordinates technical issues with other departments on projects including constructability requirements and reviews.Provides technical direction for specific tasks and assigns work to subordinate engineers or designers.Broad knowledge of precedents in the industry.Broad working knowledge of precedents in the specialty area, the principles, and practices of related technical areas and of coordinating work with other technical disciplines.Specific Responsibilities IncludeManaging of environmental engineering scope such as industrial wastewater and water treatment or drainage. The design will include development of design basis, process flow diagrams, package specifications, and development of equipment datasheetsAttendance of key meetings such as P&IDs review, HAZOP, and 3D model review and providing environmental inputDevelopment of terms of reference for environmental led reviews such as ENVIDs and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs)Environmental air modelling - experience with industry standard software such as AERMOD an advantageCompiling technical lists and inventories such as emissions and effluents summariesInterfacing with government Environmental Regulatory AuthoritiesEnsuring that projects are incompliance with state, federal, and country environmental regulationsEnsuring that projects are incompliance with International Finance Corporation (IFC) requirements where requiredBasic QualificationsA recognized bachelors degree in chemical or mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university. Masters degree in Environmental Engineering or equivalent subject would be considered an advantage.Excellent knowledge of technical theory, engineering principles, good engineering practices and how to apply them for design executionFamiliarity with major regulations and industry codes and standards affecting standard design, quality, or processesExtensive knowledge of international and US specific environmental legislationChartered engineering status or willingness to pursueIndustry ExperienceRelevant industrial experience in multiple types of facilities such as:Desalination plantsIndustrial wastewater treatment unitsZero liquid discharge (ZLD) designPetrochemicalsEnergy Transition (hydrogen production, CCS, methanol synthesis etc)RefiningGas ProcessingWhat We OfferAt Bechtel we offer a competitive salary package with the opportunity for flexible working to achieve greater work-life balance.
