Job description

Global Insurer is currently searching for an experienced Insurance Finance specialist to join their London team. This is a newly created role that will have a hybrid responsibility in ensuring that IFRS17 is successfully implemented into finance processes and oversight of the IFRS 17 and Solvency II reporting team.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading the Finance function in respect of IFRS 17 requirements and its impact on the business.
  • Monitor and deliver the project timeline liaising with Actuary, IT, consultancies, external vendors and group headquarters
  • Actively participate in IFRS 17 project workstreams, including taking ownership of the IFRS 17 calculation engine, presentation, disclosures and reconciliations.
  • Implementation and operation of relevant controls and reconciliation processes, including an end-to-end reconciliation of the IFRS 17 numbers.
  • Subject matter expert in respect of the IFRS 17 calculation engine, processing of data in the system.
  • Reviewing results and ensuring accurate and timely loads into the general ledger or other relevant Finance systems.
  • Deliver the development of financial statements and disclosures so that they meet the requirements of IFRS 17, including work in respect of the chart of accounts.
  • Deliver the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes relating to IFRS 17 including assisting with the preparation of financial statements, advising other teams (e.g. FP&A) on IFRS 17 matters where required.
  • Support the Head of Accounting and the Reporting Manager in the quarterly and annual Solvency II deliverables and other ad-hoc deliverables.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant - Ideally ACA
  • Big 4 Insurance Audit experience currently at Manager or Senior Manager level OR working in a similar role within the Insurance Industry
  • Strong practical Knowledge of IFRS 17 and experience of its implementation
  • Proven Experience of working in a regulatory reporting environment and demonstrable working knowledge with Solvency II submissions
  • Strong Excel and IT system knowledge, along with the ability to analyse large amount of financial data.
  • A proven track record in the end-to-end delivery of Regulatory focused projects within insurance
