Our client is a dynamic tech start-up, looking to significantly impact the construction and mining industries with their leading digital services and solutions (trackers, sensors etc.), helping to reduce cost, improve productivity and increase sustainability by reducing emissions.

Senior Firmware Engineer

They are now looking for a Senior Firmware Engineer with experience of firmware and IoT to join their team of talented engineers, designers, sales and marketing people through the next stage of their growth journey.

The Senior Firmware Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of current and future firmware used by the company on their IoT sensor devices and related hardware.

As Senior Firmware Engineer, you will:

Lead work to improve current firmware design and design, test and implement firmware for future use cases and new hardware device types.
Liaise with the wider Engineering Team as well as Product Team and hardware suppliers regarding any technical firmware solutions required to deliver our product features.
Continuously look for new ways to drive innovative and meaningful improvements to current capabilities.
Challenge the current state and push the boundaries of possibilities to drive efficient and long-lasting hardware solutions.
Work with the hardware installation specialist to test and validate improvements in the field.
To be considered for this role you will ideally be qualified to PhD or Master's level in a relevant subject, such as Electronic Engineering and will have both theoretical and practical experience of working on IoT solutions and firmware engineering.

You will have:

Background in IoT / hardware / Firmware engineering.
Strong knowledge of embedded firmware and how it works in a commercial context.
Proficiency in C++.
Basic knowledge of Python or a strong interest in learning it.
Demonstrated track record of finding creative and innovative solutions to complex problems.
Willingness to be flexible, operational and hands on - have a "start-up" mindset.
You will be comfortable working in a changing environment with some immature processes and will be a curious and ambitious team player.
