Job description

Our client is seeking a Senior System Administrator who will be responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, performance tuning and recovery procedures for mission critical enterprise systems. The Senior System Administrator will serve as a technical expert in the area of system administration for complex operating systems.

The successful candidate will recommend the redesign and configuration of operating systems and system applications. This role will allow the successful candidate to investigate and analyse feasibility of system requirements and develops system specifications. The Senior System Administrator will also identify methods, solutions, and provide project leadership and management in order to provide a high level of service to the business.

Responsibilities

Maintain essential IT operations, including Unix/Linux operating systems, messaging Middleware (MQ), storage devices (EMC), and application and web Servers.

Design, implement and administer automation of the current manual processes by using Scripting languages such as Shell, Perl, Python, and other automation tools.

Design, implement and administer Infrastructure as Code.

Apply engineering principles to acquire, implement, design, develop architectures, and maintain integrated computer systems.

Provides technical expertise and recommendations in assessing new IT capabilities, projects and initiatives to support and enhance our existing systems.

Perform troubleshooting as required. As such, leads problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations.

Establishes guidelines and methods for the installation and management of the host computer operating systems, disk arrays, fiber channel Switches and other components.

Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources.

This role includes maintenance/support of a large number of medium-enterprise systems, problem resolution for Middleware integration environment; installing, configuring and deploying WebSphere MQ and MQ software products. The candidate must possess familiarity with varied concepts, standard best business practices, and procedures.

Requirements

University degree in Computer Science or related discipline.

5-7+ years of relevant experience in Linux/Unix systems administration, provisioning, configuration, monitoring, tuning and troubleshooting.

5-7+ years of experience managing VMWare vSphere and ESXi hosts environments (ie vRealize suite: vROps, vRA, vRLI, etc ) (VxRail platforms are a plus).

5+ years of experience administering multipathing on RHEL systems.

5+ years of experience administering SSO products (ie AD, SiteMinder, KeyCloak, etc)

5+ years of experience with Scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python.

5+ years of experience designing, implementing, administering, provisioning, configuring, monitoring and troubleshooting systems automation tools such as Jenkins, Puppet and Ansible. (Infrastructure as Code).

5+ years of administration experience with IBM's WebSphere MQ, Oracle's WebLogic Application Server and Apache Tomcat.

Experience in designing and maintaining distributed services and technologies.

Experience working with Federated Identity solutions.

Experience working with load balancers such as Big IP F5, Netscaler, etc

Thorough understanding of certificates and PKI administration.

Provide after-hours support for Infrastructure related emergencies as well as weekend maintenance.

Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and manage a complex environment of IT infrastructure and understanding of technical concepts like enterprise architecture, SOA, virtualization, Servers, databases, hardware, network, monitoring, Firewalls, security, PaaS, IaaS, SaaS, and configuration systems.

Ability to work effectively with people from many different disciplines with varying levels of technical experience.
