Job description

Proximie is an award-winning, cloud-based, real-time communication platform that can virtually transport a surgeon into any operating room in the world, regardless of location, to remotely assist, mentor, or train colleagues. Helping scale surgical expertise regardless of location, from world-renowned hospital theatres to conflict zones.

The award-winning patented solution enables the effective transfer of clinical and surgical expertise using a simple, scalable, and secure service. Layering AR features and machine learning services over a real-time communication feed to augment the delivery of surgical care and education.

Proximie requires low bandwidth and is easy to deploy, using commonly available hardware, including mobile. Founded in 2016 by Dr. Nadine Hachach Haram an NHS surgeon, Proximie is headquartered in London and operates out of three hubs (US, UK, and the Middle East) to serve customers across the world.
About the role:

We are looking for a passionate web graphics engineer who is experienced with the full Secure Software Development Life Cycle (SSDLC), change management, and modern tools and pipelines. The ideal candidate has scaffolded applications from scratch, deployed them to production, and managed/mentored junior and mid-level full-stack software engineers.

We're open to someone who is technology agnostic who is excited by the prospect of working with new and latest technologies. If you do not meet all of the below (i.e. programming languages, etc.) and believe you can make a difference at Proximie please get in touch. Required skills:

  • Expertise in 2d/3d and web graphics software development: WebRTC, HTML canvas, WebGL, Three.js, Bablyon.js, Unity and related
  • Strong command and experience in web development: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node.js
  • Proficient in collaborative coding tooling and practices and tooling such as git and GitHub Flow
  • Ability to independently research evolving development standards, platform, graphics, and media technologies
  • Near fluent English speaking, reading, and writing ability
Desired skills:
  • Working in a highly regulated / compliance centric environment, and especially healthcare
  • Demonstrable attention to code optimizations and performance debugging
  • Knowledge of web-based communication protocols and methods: HTTPS, APIs, WebSockets, MQTT
  • Good knowledge of media streams handling and processing: WebRTC, video and audio codecs, Insertable Streams
  • Fluency in testing approaches and tools such as TDD, visual regression testing, Jest/Mocha, Cypress, etc. to delivery high quality visualisation software
  • Fluency in 3D geometry and mathematical concepts (linear algebra, trigonometry, geometry)
  • Fluency in image theory and image processing: pixels, colors, mathematical manipulation, image effects
  • Familiarity with computer vision approaches and frameworks such as TensorFlow.js, OpenCV.js and related
  • Proficient in continuous integration, delivery, and deployment pipelines techniques and tools
  • Familiarity working within an Agile/Scrum team
