Solution Designer - Application Solution Architect
We are currently recruiting for a Solution Designer for one of the UK's leading financial services organisations. The Solution Designer will be working as part of the company's payments application portfolio which is undergoing a transformation programme that spans the next few years, the organisation is looking at what the biggest tech companies in the world are doing to help solve the huge complexities of their critical systems and embarking on a new chapter in their architectural thinking. Utilising technologies such as IaaS, SaaS and PaaS, Kafka, automation and Microservices, this is an exciting time to join if you're keen to make an impact.
As a Solution Designer, you will be working in an agile environment, assessing new requirements to replace existing systems and applications utilising the cloud and the new architectural direction. You will identify and document technical requirements to support these new systems, working closely with Subject Matter Experts to identify potential issues and help shape solutions with agile teams. Your documentation will be clear, concise, timely and traceable and support the flow of activity within the team.
As a Solution Designer, you will have responsibility for the following:
- Responsible for the creation and delivery of technical artifacts to deliver team objectives that are aligned to engineering architectural strategy
- Have strong stakeholder management & engagement skills, effective at all levels
- Early life cycle involvement working with Architects and Business Analysts helping to shape solutions from the outset of a project
- Production of High-Level Designs and/or Detailed Designs, covering functional and non-functional elements
- Technical leadership and oversight of detailed analysis, design, subsequent development and test.
- Design consultancy to all disciplines at all stages of the software life cycle
- Leading and participating in workshops, design walkthroughs and critical design reviews
- Production and reviewing of design and build estimates
- Mentoring and coaching junior members of staff
- Setting standards, authoring design patterns, providing design governance and contributing to process improvement
The ideal candidate will hold experience in the following:
- Experience in non-functional design is essential with particular emphasis on resilience, security and performance on complex systems
- Background in designing complex microarchitecture-based systems
- Experience of using UML diagramming or similar techniques
- Experience of working in Agile/DevOps teams using Scrum methodology or similar
