Job description
The Department for International Trade (DIT) and Inspire People are partnering together to bring you an amazing opportunity to join a team at the heart of the global economy and make a difference! The Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) team at DIT have newly created opportunities for Technical Architects to provide the technical leadership to the development teams required to deliver the digital services, data and technology central to DIT's ability to meet its objectives. Basic of £67,000 to £83,800 including annual allowance depending on location and experience plus excellent benefits. Flexible, hybrid working from London, Cardiff, Darlington, Edinburgh or Belfast.
As a Technical Architect, you will have a view of technology as an enabler of great digital services and an eagerness to influence how digital services are delivered, who can:
. Provide technical leadership and mentoring to the development team or teams and mentoring to developers in your teams
. Design services or plan system integration, selecting necessary platforms and technologies to meet user needs, building and maintaining technical roadmaps.
. Facilitate integrations and reuse with other development teams, rapidly building prototypes to demonstrate and test architectural patterns.
. Document, communicate and manage evolution of services and infrastructure through architecture decision records.
. Advise product managers on the estimated effort and technical implications of user stories.
. Be involved in the DIT technical community, identifying good practices, libraries, microservices to adopt widely.
Essential Skills and Experience:
What are we looking for from you? Well, you should have demonstratable skills and experience of:
. Hands on experience developing web services using Python/Django and/or NodeJS/React
. Practical knowledge at many levels of the web stack, from Front End code down to infrastructure and networking
. Being responsible for technical teams and delivering user-focused web services in multi-disciplinary agile teams
. Managing other technologists and instilling enthusiasm for sharing knowledge
. Introducing practices such as TDD, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and DevOps to teams
. Working with AWS cloud infrastructure and services
