Job description

Why do we stand out?

Meet the firm that's defined by difference. Our network of 2,600 lawyers are constantly challenging themselves, working on projects that enable innovation for prestigious clients; on cases that disrupt and shape legal precedent. Across 46 global locations, working seamlessly, as one team.

No better platform to start from.

What does our global reach mean for you? Exposure to exciting, headline-grabbing legal projects as we innovate to deliver successful results for our clients. Join us, and you'll develop a deep understanding of our bold and evolving approach to creating valuable global solutions, as you learn from a network of global lawyers who will encourage you to see things differently. Not only that, you'll also tap into a broad range of practice groups here, which include: Corporate and Finance, Global Regulatory and Intellectual Property Media and Technology (IPMT), and Litigation Arbitration and Employment (LAE)

With all kinds of opportunities at your fingertips - and plenty of dedicated support - you'll grow your legal expertise, discover the interests that drive you, and develop the commercial edge that sets us apart.

Training contract

Each year, we take on up to 50 graduates (from law and non-law degree subjects) as trainee solicitors. As of autumn 2022, all our trainees will start by successfully completing the brand-new Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), with those from non-law backgrounds having first gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PGDL). But don't worry - our bespoke and market-leading City Consortium Solicitor Training Programme will provide you with everything you need to prepare and succeed.

With these qualifications in hand, you'll then join us for two years of training: doing four six-month seats across our different practice groups. Plus, for one of those seats, you'll have the chance to apply for an international or client secondment. Throughout, you'll enjoy expert guidance and advice, comprehensive legal skills training, and regular reviews.

Who we look for

As one of the world's largest and most established law firms, we tackle fascinating and complex legal issues for our clients. So we look for intellectually curious, collaborative and determined individuals from all kinds of backgrounds and with all kinds of experience. A strong academic record is important: you should have, or be on track for, a good 2:1 or above in your degree. You must also be the kind of person who adapts well to new situations, delivers on their promises and has the creativity to take ideas in new directions. Above all, you must be able to work well with others and build lasting relationships with colleagues and clients alike.
