The vacancy

We welcome applications from people from all sections of the community, irrespective of race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, religion or belief. We actively encourage people with Parkinson's to apply.

Maximising the value and contribution of our funders is fundamental to Parkinson's UK delivering the impact we want to see for people affected by Parkinson's. Building networks, understanding what motivates our supporters, and aligning our programmes to their grantmaking strategies is key to our growth plans for Major Gifts.

Our Major Gifts and Special Events function are a dynamic and high-performing team of 15 colleagues. We have a well established programme raising between £5 - £7million a year across the department to fund our vital work but big ambitions to grow that further by 2024.

You will play a critical role in the implementation of our growth strategy from trusts and foundations and statutory and lottery supporters. You will collaborate with teams and leaders across the charity to design funding approaches at a five and six-figure level, building on strong relationships with some of the UK's most well known funders and attracting new support with your excellent presentation and writing skills. The focus of the role includes both scientific research, such as the pioneering Parkinson's Virtual Biotech, and funding for support services like our award-winning UK-wide Parkinson's Connect programme.

You'll contribute to a step change in the charity's income, through your own portfolio and line management of a Senior Officer and a Trusts Officer, reporting into the Major Grants and Proposition Lead. Now is an exciting time for Parkinson's UK as we accelerate our 'Transforming Parkinson's Together' strategy and we drive forward our growth ambitions within major gifts. If you are looking for an exciting next step in a pivotal senior fundraising role then get in touch.

What you'll do:

Lead the team's implementation of the agreed trusts fundraising strategy, coordinating opportunities, team resources and projects.
Develop the potential of trusts and statutory fundraising across the charity by improving systems and driving change with senior colleagues.
Cultivate strong working relationships with major trusts and foundations, lottery and government funders, proactively seeking meetings with new contacts.
Develop new cases for support to benefit the wider Engagement directorate, and being a strategic theme lead for the team.
