Do you have a passion for creating excellent UI in healthcare products, where you products will redefine how patients receive treatment?
We're looking for a user interface (UI) designer who has the skills to develop digital products that can help patients to manage their health conditions and improve their quality of life. If you're interested, we'd love to see your portfolio.
Your role will be focused primarily on the delivery of user interfaces for a drug and digital combined product. You will be working in a start-up environment as part of a cross-disciplinary team of user researchers, other designers, product managers and software engineers. You will be collaborating to deliver software based medical devices which means you will be working within set process es to ensure UI is safe and effective by design.
We want our products to generate better health outcomes for patients, so we're keen to develop a deep understanding of the domain and identify existing issues and how they could be addressed. We believe that good design is at the heart of this challenge. We're interested in finding a specialist with deep knowledge in UI development and broad generalist UX skills.
What you'll be doing:
Work closely with the UX and Product Management teams to improve key user interfaces for our Insomnia medical device.
Contribute to a coherent design system to ensure consistency is upheld throughout our digital design platform. Contribute to mobile style guides and UI toolkits.
Bring brand and visual requirements together with usability and interaction design principles to generate usable yet compelling UI assets.
Work closely with the software development team to understand technical requirements and how they impact interface design.
Work within a medical regulated environment, understand how this impacts UI design and apply the necessary processes to meet regulatory requirements.
Solve new interface problems and push the boundaries of design patterns to identify new paradigms of interaction.
Conceive and articulate content, animations and transitions that can help make the user journey more usable and engaging.
Advocate for user needs and help foster a design culture, based on evidence and insights from user research.
Plan UI work and report on progress to other members of the team.
Prepare design specifications to support software development and implementation.
Collaborate with cross-functional product teams to deliver working software.
What you'll bring:
Proven ability to produce cutting-edge creative work and a high-level understanding of design, including typography and layout.
A compelling portfolio of work, with a wide variety of digital design work including mobile applications.
Great presentation skills and comfortable working directly with internal stakeholders and external partners.
Proficiency in UI development tools such as Sketch, InDesign, Figma as well as design specification developer support tools such as Zeplin, Confluence and Jira.
Proven experience of mobile app design, with a good understanding of design patterns on iOS and Android (material design).
Proficiency creating wireframes, mock-ups and prototypes.
Lean attitude - engage with users and internal stakeholders. Take an iterative approach to develop a product that reflects user needs and engagement.
Experience of working with agile development teams.
An excellent eye for detail and an understanding of UI design trends in popular mobile apps delivering learning programmes/medical support.
Desirable but not mandatory:
Medical experience or experience operating in a highly regulated industry (e.g. finance).
Prior experience of designing software as a medical device.
Familiarity with regulatory standards such as IEC 62366
Expertise in psychology / behavioural change
