Job description
Our client have an exciting opportunity for a part time Youth Worker to join the team. In return theycan offer a competitive salary of 24,296 -29,993 per annum (pro-rata).
TheirYouth Worker will proactively promote the personal, educational, creative and social development of young people aged 8 to 19 (or up to 25 with SEND), helping them reach their fullpotential through excellent youth work
The successful applicant will need to be subject to a background enhanced disclosure check by the Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) before any appointment can be confirmed.
Responsibilities of our client'sYouth Worker:
Welcoming young people into the Pembury Community Centre (and any other spaces where Childrens Community youth activities are delivered), ensuring everything is running smoothly and supporting young people who are engaging with the activities
Delivering a rich programme of positive activities and reflective sessions, weekly during term-time and during school holidays, taking accountability for security and safe working within the youth sessions
Mentoring, coaching and supporting individuals, encouraging young people to develop their self-awareness, independence and individuality
Identifying where targeted youth support is needed and facilitating referrals and connections with support from line manager
Helping ensure that all evidence of projects is properly documented, and that work is evaluated and reported in accordance with contractual commitments
Taking part in outreach activities, both independently and in partnership with other services
Staying informed on legislation, local and national issues, and best practice in youth work
Ensuring child protection procedures are followed and that the safeguarding of young people is paramount
Act as a role model for young people, inspiring them to engage in the services and understand and appreciate the role of youth work as a career opportunity
Education, qualifications or experience required by our client'sYouth Worker:
A demonstrable track record of extensive youth work experience
A suitable youth work related qualification (e.
g.
Level 2 JNC) is desirable
Experience of working with children and\/or young people in similar settings
Experience of organising and\/or coordinating projects is desirable
Knowledge, skills and abilities
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to quickly establish positive relationships with young people and motivate them to participate in activities and events, as well as being able to engage their parents\/guardians
Good organisational and administration skills
IT literacy with the understanding and ability to use Microsoft Office effectively and the ability to run virtual sessions for young people as and when necessary
Understanding and appreciation of the importance of monitoring and evaluation in a youth work setting
Politically and creatively aware and plugged in to emerging youth sub-culture
