We have an exciting opportunity for you to join Babcock driving the SHE agenda through the operational delivery team and taking responsibility for contributing to and delivering the SHE Strategy.

Who we are looking for?

We are looking for a friendly, assertive, independent quick paced Safety Health and Environmental Manager with the ability to motivate others. You will enjoy challenging situations and have the flexibility to work in a relatively unstructured environment where there is freedom to act and the authority to take decisions.

What will you be doing?

As a Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) Manager the achievement of results through people management is key to the role.

Your duties will include:

• Mentoring, counselling, coaching and supporting those to encourage confidence in their area of competence, building morale and personal esteem to give their best performance.
• Collaborating with the Land Sector SHE Centre roles in setting standards and bringing consistency for Wellbeing as well as relevant Health, Safety and Environmental matters.
• Developing, rationalising and integrating processes and procedures/management to reflect the business / ISO requirements
• Ensuring the products and services provided are fit for purpose and meet relevant internal and external standards (legal compliance and customer expectations).
• The role is pivotal in maintaining and improving the safety and resilience of the day to day operations and to ensure everyone is "Home Safe Everyday".
• Providing SHE leadership, direction and effective SHE resource across all of the Metropolitan Police Fleet Management Services Business (MPS) operation.

The experience you'll bring

• Desirable) Previous Health & Safety leadership role and team management across a multi-site operation
• (Desirable) Previous work experience in implementing, maintaining and auditing: ISO 9001, BSI ISO 14001 and BSI ISO 45001, IAMM Level 3 standards or equivalent
• (Preferred) Chartered Member of Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (CMIOSH) or working towards, supported by a NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent
• (Preferred) Credible career path in non-safety discipline where problem solving and safety improvement experience can be demonstrated
