Your new company
Hays Social Care are currently looking to expand our team of Residential Support Workers for roles throughout London. Hays are the biggest recruitment agency in the UK, and so we have connections with a large base of clients offering us temporary and contract roles, as well as occasional shift work.

Your new role
In this role you will be required to:

* Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people living in the home
* Adhering to and updating the risk assessment and taking practical steps to ensure the young people's safety
* Establishing trusting, positive and warm relationships with young people
* To enable young people to feel confident to express their feelings whilst maintaining professional boundaries
* Ensuring young person's care plan is followed and updated as appropriate
* Overseeing all aspects of their care and wellbeing and assuming responsibility for being a key liaison with the professional team around the child
* Empowering young people to express their views and participate in decisions that affect them
* Encouraging young people to fully participate in society
* Supporting young people's holistic health and physical wellbeing, including access to medical services, administering medication and\/ or first aid as necessary and completing general household duties
* Taking responsibility for ensuring the health and safety of young people, the workforce and visitors to the home by maintaining a clean and well-maintained physical environment
* Working flexibly to meet the changing demands of the service
* Taking on any additional tasks and responsibilities to ensure the safe day to day running of the home
* Ensure records are maintained, accurate and up to date, both paper and electronic, including report writing and contributing to assessments
* Adhering to and Equality and Diversity policies

What you'll need to succeed
Successful applicants would require:

* Minimum 6 months experience in a relevant social care role within the last 2 years
* Previous experience supporting children with behavioural difficulties
* You will also need to have a relevant qualification, such as a Diploma or Level 2\/3 NVQ in Health and Social Care, Level 3 in Children's and Young People's Services, or equivalent
* Enthusiasm and commitment when working in a challenging environment
