Job description

Hello,

The role of the Procurement Manager is to develop new and existing global suppliers while implementing a best-in-class system that supports rapid growth into the UK health and retail sector

The candidate must have a strong background in domestic and international sourcing strategies, contract negotiation, creation and implementation of policy, and proactive supplier management, with the ability to build new processes within the Procurement area. They must have the ability and willingness to be hands on in performing the tasks at day one while developing systems and operations.

Major Responsibilities:

· Support the global strategic development of procurement

· Discover profitable suppliers and initiate business and organization partnerships, whilst managing current suppliers.

· Negotiate with external vendors to secure advantageous terms, demonstrating expertise in contract negotiation and cost management

· Serve as subject matter expert for chemical procurement, medical devices componentry and equipment and service providers related to Medical device and chemical regulatory requirements

· Support in the development of processes to ensure compliance related to key supply chain procurement requirements such as quality control, storage and distribution for chemicals, biologics, medical devices and various components.

· Lead strategic supplier relationship management to continually identify process improvements and cost reduction opportunities and drive performance targets / agreements.

· Planning, creation and execution of global sourcing exercises and category planning

· Develop and implement global procurement policies, processes and controls

· Review, amend and improve supplier performance and contract management tools

· Embed best practice procurement across the business through education and mentoring

· Reduce business risk by embedding greater procurement rigour across the organisation

· Lead commercial management, analysis and assessment of suppliers

· Regularly meet with suppliers and perform site visits to develop comprehensive knowledge and insights

· Conduct due diligence and risk assessment of procurement/supplier activities to identify points of vulnerability and devise remedial plans

· Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand and track inventory levels

· Deliver improvements in procurement strategy, execution and commercial results

· Plan and undertake strategic projects to drive forward improvements in procurement practices e.g. innovation, environment & ethical policies, total acquisition costs

· Manage and plan all sourcing activities in advance of business requirements, liaising as necessary with business functions to ascertain requirements

§ % deliveries by non-discreet orders

§ % spend by consigned stock or equivalent

Education:
· Business or other suitable degree level education

· High level numeracy and PC skills

Background:
· Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end supply chain interactions and interdependencies

· Procurement experience within Chemical industry or Pharmaceutical industry

· Knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word as well as experience implementing and using procurement system

· Driven to meeting or exceeding milestones

· Knowledge of regulatory requirements, linked to procurement within the Chemical industry, Pharmaceutical or medical device industry

· Experience within a strategic purchasing / procurement role in a manufacturing environment and understanding of manufacturing processes and quality controls, multi component BOM management

· Experience in using stock management systems

· Self-starter - able to work both alone and as part of a team

· Able to multi-task effectively in a fast moving environment

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Up to £50,000.00 per year
