Job description

A primary school in Islington is seeking a Special Needs teaching assistant who has a strong background in working with children with Autism and behavioural difficulties (SEMH) to join them as soon as possible

The role will involve 1:1 support for a child with Autism. The pupil you will be working with is in Year 2 and works to his own curriculum. He can be challenging, so you will need to be patient and firm but fair.
To be successful in this role, you must have experience of working with children/young people with Autism and experience of working with children with speech and language needs would be great as he needs assistance in this area also. Experience with PECS and Makaton would be warmly welcomed.

As you will be working closely with the class teacher and SENDCO and on some occasions external agencies, you will need to have excellent communication skills, both written and spoken. You will see the child's parents every day and provide feedback from the day.

Your hours of work will be 8.30 am- 3:45 pm.

The school is well served by public transport, with parking available.

This will be a great opportunity for a special needs teaching assistant to become part of a hard-working team in an outstanding primary school.
