Handyman -South Croydon Area

Job Type: Permanent

Hours: 30 Hours per week (with possible overtime)

Pay: Between £11.00 - £11.50 per hour (to be discussed at interview stage)

Our clients Nursing Home is situated in South Croydon with good transport links. There is also onsite parking.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing routine maintenance including basic plumbing and decorating. You will also be tasked with ensuring security is maintained and scheduled checks are conducted throughout the home. A knowledge of repairs and a good standard of record keeping is essential. Must have the ability to carry out minor repairs and general maintenance including plumbing and decorating and be able to work unsupervised.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Carrying out all general maintenance tasks and basic repairs including household electrical, plumbing joinery, and building tasks both inside and outside the home.
Providing a courier service for mail and supplies, as well as delivery of specimens and collection of prescriptions on behalf of residents.
Undertaking all safety checks in the Care Home
Liaising with maintenance contractors coming into the building
Responsible for specific Health and Safety duties with regards to safeguard systems including weekly checks on water temperature, weekly checks on fire alarms and monthly checks on emergency lighting systems and fire exits/firefighting equipment.
Providing out-of-hours emergency service, participating in the on-call rota.
Practicing safe systems of work across the range of tasks and in particular moving and handling of loads, by assessing risk and having due regard for personal safety and the safety of residents, visitors, and staff.
Advising on the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring the timely and appropriate ordering of replacement goods.
Ensuring supplies and equipment are stored in a safe and tidy manner.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with all residents, family, visitors, and colleagues.
