SEN Teaching Assistant (ADHD, ADD, Attachment Disorder) - Sutton

Ribbons & Reeves are working with a Secondary School in Sutton to appoint a SEN Teaching Assistant, with knowledge and experience of working with children that have Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH).

This rewarding SEN Teaching Assistant role will involve working 1:1 with pupils in KS3 and KS4 to aid them in their emotional and academic development through encouragement, positive behaviour management and by creating a safe and positive learning atmosphere.

By providing additional support throughout the school day, you will be improving the education and wellbeing of the pupils within your care.

This is a long-term SEN Teaching Assistant role starting immediately and running through until at least the end of the academic year.

SEN Teaching Assistant (ADHD, ADD, Attachment Disorder) - Sutton

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant must be able to demonstrate:

• An understanding of the methods needed to support children and young people who experience a wide range of social and emotional difficulties which manifest themselves in many ways.
• The confidence to support children who have become withdrawn, isolated and display challenging, disruptive or disturbing behaviour.
• An understanding of underlying mental health difficulties such as anxiety, depression, self-harming, substance misuse, eating disorders or physical symptoms that are medically unexplained.
• Familiarity of other disorders such as ADHD, ADD or attachment disorder will be advantageous in this role.
