Job description

Central is currently recruiting for a Support Worker to work in the Finsbury Park area. The service is a semi-independent, 10-bed high support service for young people between 16 - 21 years old. The service provides housing support for young people.

The successful candidate will be required to work 37.

5 hours per week, working across Monday - Sunday on a rolling rota, covering early (8AM - 4PM), mid (11AM - 8PM or 12PM - 8PM) and late (3PM - 11PM) shifts. Please note, there is a requirement to work two weekends out of every four. Cover is required for 2 months. The pay rate for this role is 11.

71 per hour, with 1.41 holiday pay, totalling 13.12 per hour.

In this position, you will be expected to;

Hold a caseload of young people and undertake regular key working sessions resulting in agreed SMART Support Plans
Complete comprehensive needs and risk assessments
Ensure day to day shift cover is effectively provided to support the aims of the project
Assess referrals to the project to ensure the criteria is met and suitable young people are accepted
Support young people to identify opportunities for move-on to appropriate PRS, Hostel, shared or self contained accommodation and make appropriate referrals
To support young people to work towards gaining greater independence and support them into work, education or training by assisting them to access suitable courses or placements
Ensure that safeguarding and addressing the immediate needs of the young person are paramount to service delivery
To apply for this role, you must have;

Experience of working with at-risk young people in a residential setting
Experience of applying effective ways of working with young people, particularly in relation to mental health & attachment needs including emerging personality disorder & significant self harm
Experience of holding a caseload, working in a recovery focussed way and completing needs and risk assessments
Experience of working with young people to develop life skills and support their involvement in meaningful activity
Experience working in an environment where young people may present with difficult and challenging behaviours
Knowledge of welfare benefits for under 21's, rents and service charges

Further requirements:

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Current valid right to work in the UK
Minimum 12 months of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of 44)
Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
