Salary: £37,722 - £40,869 per annum

The Council is embarking upon a major programme of change to modernise the way we work and reduce our carbon footprint. In April 2019 we moved to Hounslow House, a new landmark building located in Hounslow town centre, our new technology will enable staff to work remotely and flexibly to improve the service we provide to residents and to help our staff achieve a better work/life balance.
About the Team
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced, self-motivated and dynamic community engagement officer to join our Community Safety Team, to support the delivery of the borough's new Safer Communities Strategy through diverse crime reduction work programmes.
The Community Safety Team is responsible for providing life-saving frontline services, co-ordinating work across different disciplines, strengthening partnership and collaborative work, implementing innovative projects and ensuring the Council fulfils its statutory duties to make Hounslow safer for everyone.
The borough is embarking on its most ambitious plans to move from an enforcement led approach to a preventative model to keep Hounslow safe. A key part of this work is developing our relationships with communities in local neighbourhoods through engagement and consultation. We have created the roles of Safer Communities Officers to take forward this exciting new work. We are looking for an outstanding individual who has extensive experience in working with residents to support them in co-designing and co-delivering initiatives, implementing an-area-based model and who will be responsible for co-ordinating internal teams, external partners and creating multi-agency actions plans to address issues affecting communities in areas they live in.
Key Responsibilities
- To lead on the implementation of multi-agency crime reduction initiatives and action plans.
- To apply a problem-solving approach to a complex community safety caseload and complaints.
- To work collaboratively with residents and communities to embed a public health/preventative approach to tackling neighbourhood crime issues.
- To implement relevant legislation and good practice in keeping vulnerable children, adults and families safe.
Your Skills
- Extensive skills in processes and procedures relating to legal remedies in the field of community safety.
- Proven ability to manage a complex caseload of community safety issues.
- Ability to represent the Council and its partners at public facing meetings and work positively with residents and communities.
- Highly organised, with excellent time management skills and the ability to work with competing priorities in pressurised environment.
Essential for the role
- Enhanced DBS check is required for the role.
This post is considered by the authority to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers. The council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
