TENURE / HOURS: 2 years Fixed Term Contract (possible extension to 3 years) working 37.5 hours per week, as part of a 7-day Rota including Bank Holidays

St Christopher's is excited to announce the introduction of a pioneering and bold new role, designed to support the training and development of an aspiring Consultant Nurse in palliative and end of life care.

St Christopher's remains at the forefront of end of life care; in doing so, we have strategic ambitions to adapt our care services to meet people's changing needs, and to improve the experience of end of life care locally, nationally and across the globe.

The role

We are seeking an innovative and resilient nurse to take up this new and exciting role; to learn with us, in the process of working towards becoming a Consultant Nurse in Palliative and End of Life Care.

In this role, the post holder will work across our two sites, and different care settings, and our partner organisations, to develop their clinical, leadership and management, research, and education skills. Time will be dedicated to personal education and development, and the postholder will be supported to deliver service development initiatives involving St Christopher's and our partner organisations.

This role represents an excellent opportunity to work towards the role of a Consultant Nurse, across a wide portfolio of teams and services, working with a team of established Consultant Nurses, and Consultant colleagues from medicine and allied health professions; alongside, professional and service leads, external partners, service users and carers to take forward our strategic priorities.

St Christopher's has services spanning the London boroughs of Bromley, Croydon, Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham, and are connected to partner health and social care organisations in all the boroughs we support. St Christopher's CARE, provides learning and development to the communities we support, and we have academic links with a number of universities, nationally and internationally.

There will be a generous training package to support training to Consultant Nurse level.

To succeed in this role

Already, you will be a Registered Nurse, and evidence of being a talented clinical leader with expert-level knowledge, an enquiring mind and excellent influencing and networking skills, with some experience of leading clinical improvements and education. You will have expert knowledge relating to people with palliative care needs, and those approaching the end of their life. You will need to demonstrate strong interpersonal & leadership skills. Experience of working across a range of health care settings would be an advantage, but is not essential.
