My client is a venture capital funded start up working on the latest computational methods for antigen design and vaccine development. Originating from the University of Oxford, that have strong aims to develop vaccines of the future taking a data driven approach, predicting pathogen mutations before they occur.

Their pipeline focuses on developing treatments for a range of infectious diseases such as Malaria and Swine Flu. You will be playing a vital role developing the bioinformatic pipelines which drives the discovery of novel antigens. You'll be joining a rapidly expanding interdisciplinary team of wet lab scientists, engineers and computational biologists working in a busy laboratory with the opportunity to make real differences in vaccine development.

Your new role

Developing computational approaches to aid the vaccine development pipeline is a fundamental part of the antigen discovery process. Using data driven methods is powering the development of novel vaccines, predicting mutations before they happen. The bioinformatics position aims to fulfill responsibilities below and will assist the pre-clinical team in taking vaccines to trials.

* Manage pre-existing bioinformatic pipelines making they geared towards antigen applications.
* Work alongside other teams to develop bioinformatic tools and algorithms from scratch.
* Communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

What you'll need to succeed

* BSc\/MSc\/PhD with experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, data science or a relevant discipline.
* Proficient with bioinformatics tools and pipelines.
* Prior expertise in using viral \/pathogen genomic data preferred but not necessary.
* Be familiar with the quantitative methodology and computational aspects of bioinformatics.
* Skilled in programming languages such as python or R.
* Experience using machine learning methods and statistical models.
* You'll be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
