Salary: Upwards from £45,000 based on experience
About the role:
We are looking for an experienced and skilled Communications Manager to join our Marketing team in the London office. This role will manage the day-to-day media and communications activity for the Carbon Trust and support the development and delivery of a public relations and communications strategy in line with the Carbon Trust business objectives, both in the UK and internationally. The Communications Manager will play a key role in running the Carbon Trust press office and in the delivery of public relations activity in particular areas.
The successful candidate will be an experienced communications professional with significant demonstrable public relations experience in a B2B setting or environmental sector. They will also have excellent project management skills and line management experience.

Main duties and responsibilities:
The post holder will have agreed responsibility on a range of public relations and communications projects across the group including:
• Design, implementation and delivery of agreed dissemination and public relations programmes
• Supporting the promotion of key products and services via effective channels and content management
• Liaison across the company with key stakeholders and managers
• Budget responsibility to agreed levels
• Supporting the development and implementation of the PR plan for all programmes within budgets
• Supporting and leading PR projects, including the press office function part of the public relations team
• Contributing to the communication delivery of the Carbon Trust through the direct production and editing of unique materials such as viewpoints and case studies
• Playing a leading role in disseminating content through social media channels
Key skills we are looking for:
• Experienced and fully competent in own area
• Has developed specialist knowledge in more than one area of public relations, including media partnerships
• Shares own expertise with others; may co-ordinate activities of others
• Interprets company needs, assessing the full requirements; identifies solutions to non-standard tasks/queries
• Manages own time to meet agreed targets; develops plans for specific work activities in own area, including forecasting resource requirements
• Promotes teamwork and works to establish consensus among team members
• Creates informal networks with key contacts within own area
• Budget management skills
• Excellent social media strategy and content management skills
• Excellent copywriting skills and experience of producing unique content
• Knowledge of public procurement rules is useful
• Completes own role independently or with minimal supervision
Qualifications and experience:
• Educated to degree level (or equivalent)
• Significant demonstrable public relations experience in a b2b or environmental sector
• Experience in journalism is desirable
• Line management experience
• Excellent level of written English (additional language skills are of benefit)
• Experience of working on multiple projects at one time
• Experience of managing complex projects
• Excellent project management skills
• Experience of working with senior managers and stakeholders
• Experience of managing supplier and contractor support
• Experience of using social media to deliver unique content
• Experience of direct delivery of significant public relations programmes
• Experience of writing for digital marketing
Salary & Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary and a performance-based bonus. Our hours are 37.5 per week with 28 days paid holiday plus bank holidays and a generous pension scheme.
