Job description
Colleges are brilliant - they educate and train 2.2 million people in England each year, boost the economy, strengthen communities and transform lives.
AoC Sport is the lead membership organisation for college sport and physical activity and is a part of Association of Colleges. It encourages and supports every student to participate in sport and physical activity as an integrated part of their college experience. Offering a range of specialist advice, training and events, AoC Sport champions a whole-organisation, cross-curricular approach to physical activity, which results in dynamic college communities and healthy students.
AoC Sport was formed following the merger of British Colleges Sport (BCS), the English Colleges Football Association (ECFA and Association of Colleges (AoC) sport policy team in 2014. The ECFA brand was retained and now represents AoC Sport's football delivery arm as part of the long-term successful partnership with The Football Association.
It is an exciting time to join AoC - we are gearing up to launch a new website, AoC Sport is embedding student experience and student voice into its campaigns, we deliver some of the biggest sporting events for further education students and are the trusted voice for college sport and physical activity.
As our new Communications Officer, you'll be a vital part of the organisation, creative, ambitious and great at building strong relationships. You'll ensure that our members are engaged with what we are up to, and you'll support them to get their good news out there and make sure that student voice is amplified.
We are a truly collaborative team where everybody is given the opportunity to get involved and make things happen. You will get to create and lead on the communications for sport, physical activity and student engagement in post-16 education. We live our values and you will be supported to continually train and develop - to better at what you already do, to learn new skills, and to get experience in new areas.
This role will also involve communicating sport policy but don't worry if you don't have any previous experience in further education specifically - we can help you with that. The important thing is that have an unwavering belief in the power of sport and physical activity combined with education to transform lives, and that you are keen to learn.
AoC is a great place to work. In our last survey, 96% of staff members said that they believe that we make a positive contribution to the world, and 90% said that their team is fun to work in.
