You'll be working at the heart of the strategy team, developing everything from compelling insight-driven campaign messaging to refining messaging for a range of adverts. You'll work in a unique central government environment on accounts that make a difference to people's lives. As part of the strategy team, you will be line managed by the creative copy manager, and have responsibility for one copy editor.
If you have strong writing, strategic and analytical skills, and experience working with designers in a creative team then this is the job for you.
Main responsibilities:

- generating distinct, multi-platform campaign copy in response to briefs, from social media content calendars to snappy video scripts to compelling blogs and user-focused website content
- managing multiple projects at once, allocating time effectively and communicating progress to the client team or directly to clients
- incorporating client feedback amending content accordingly
- presenting finalised ideas and concepts to clients, explaining clearly and confidently why the creative work is on brief
- working with designers to help articulate their creative ideas
- working alongside the design team to deliver brand guidelines to clients
- ensuring we always make a difference in our work and challenging briefs that are not an effective use of public money
- articulating the strategic element and benefit of our expertise to external clients
- providing quotes and schedules for the agreed work
- working both independently and as part of a creative team, as required
- line management of copyeditor(s), providing support, guidance and development in day to day work and overall career
Key skills and experience:
- degree or other qualification in English or a related subject such as publishing, media or journalism or equivalent practical on-the-job experience
- strong track record of developing campaign-messages, copy editing and proofreading
- understanding of adapting tone and style to a range of mediums, from social to web to adverts to print materials
- creative flair and originality
- excellent written English, including accurate spelling, grammar and punctuation
- familiarity with accessibility principles and guidelines
- experience creating editorial style guidance for organisations
- experience working with designers on a range of creative projects
- tact and diplomacy when negotiating changes with authors
- ability to maintain the author's voice after editing
- good IT skills - including editing using Adobe Creative Cloud
- concentration, accuracy and the ability to work under pressure
- proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time while playing strict attention to detail, deadlines and budget
- the ability to prioritise under tight deadlines to help make a difference to every project, whatever the size
- good commercial awareness to monitor cost effectiveness
- ability to grasp client needs and consider practical solutions
- excellent communication and written skills - confidence to present and explain ideas to clients
- an interest in both emerging digital channels and the design industry
- ambition, natural motivation and a positive attitude
