Marketing & Communications Coordinator, New London Architecture (NLA)
Reports to - Marketing and Communications Manager Salary - £24,000 - £26,000 per annum.
New London Architecture (NLA) is an independent, purpose-led membership organisation for everyone with an interest in London's built environment. Our purpose is to improve the quality of people's lives by making London a better place to live, work and visit.

Our activities are broad-ranging and include research, publications, events, exhibitions, tours, learning programmes, websites & social media platforms, awards & competitions, the world's largest architecture festival and public galleries that feature large interactive scale models of London.
The role
NLA is looking for a Marketing and Communications Coordinator to provide a critical level of support to the Marketing and Communications team across a wide range of tasks in delivering the busy programme of online, print and social media resources, particularly for the London Festival of Architecture (LFA), the New London Awards, press, and other key programmes. This is a great role for a talented writer and content creator experienced with PR and press.
You will be involved in working closely with multiple teams across the business, drafting marketing and press content for digital and printed communications, and communicating progress internally in a timely and concise way.
Tasks include
- Source, produce and plan engaging content to ensure areas of NLA content such as news, blog and social media channels are up to date, relevant and interesting using the brand's tone of voice.
- Work with senior management on press and PR tasks, including but not limited to: writing press releases, researching appropriate press outlets, finding key contacts, pitching news/features and maintaining strong working relationships with key contacts
- Support the marketing team with day-to-day initiatives, campaigns and forward planning
- Manage updates to websites and third-party platforms such as Eventbrite with direction from senior managers
- Work closely with key stakeholders from across the business to support on launches, events and publications.
- Shoot on mobile and edit photography and videography as applicable
- Write engaging, impactful SEO friendly content across all formats to improve the companies organic reach
- Schedule content across websites, social media channels and email in line with individual campaign strategies
- Copywriting, including but not limited to social media posts, press releases, blog articles and event descriptions
- Contribute to team brainstorms and generate ideas for content, brand initiatives and campaigns
- Monitor and report on performance on social media channels and accounts
- Follow and identify trends that are relevant to the built environment industry
- Maintain and update relevant marketing documentation and databases
What we are looking for
You will be a self-starter with an interest in the key issues influencing London's development and investment industries, as well as in London and its built environment more generally. You will share our team's core values by always being informed, rigorous, collaborative and responsive in everything you do.
Required Experience and Skills:
- An interest in the built environment / architecture / design
- Strong copywriting skills, proof reading and attention to detail
- Experience writing press releases and managing press strategies, including proactive pitching and media monitoring
- Experience of working on social media campaigns from conception to finish
- Bonus: Strong photography/videography skills, with a good eye for visual content
- Good knowledge of Mailchimp
- Experience writing engaging content in long and short form.
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
- A proactive team player
- Self-motivated, using initiative and a problem solver
- Enthusiasm and a willingness to undertake other tasks and learn new skills
- Ability to work to tight deadlines with a can-do attitude
- Strong communication skills, both internal and external
Holiday: 25 days per year (including Christmas closure) plus bank holidays.
The normal working week is 40 hours, Monday to Friday, with a minimum of two days in our central London office.
