Overview:

Since their establishment over 40 years ago, my client has grown from a small mechanical contractor to now one of the largest M&E Contractors in the UK with an annual turnover in excess of £200M+. Privately owned; they have a healthy cash balance and established supply chain. Their core business is based out of London (Old Street), which houses their operations team, with the Preconstruction divisions based out of Slough. In addition, they own a business which operates as a regional contractor within Cambridge, Northampton, Bedfordshire and the Midlands.

Over the years they have worked closely with several Tier 1 Principal Contractors& Consultants and consequently benefit from a large amount of repeat business. Typically, the business undertakes projects from £2M to £50M M&E operating in all sectors.

Their Science and Healthcare Division has recently secured a number of high-profile schemes and they are now looking for an operations manager to overseeing the management of the project teams; reporting into a board director.

Role: M&E Operations Manager - Science & Healthcare - £110,000 + Pension + Healthcare + Bonus

The successful candidate will be overseeing the Science and Health division, responsible for contractual, financial, commercial, and technical input, specifically managing the project delivery teams. The division has a large operations team consisting of numerous Project Managers, Engineers and various Site Managers/Supervisors. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing this division working alongside a Board Director, with involvement in the full project lifecycle from Bid to Handover.

Client base: consists of major Principal contractors such as ISG Engineering, Mace and McLaren. Projects include new build and refurbishments of laboratories, hospitals, private medical facilities and technology manufacturing facility. Projects range from: £10 - £50M MEP Projects

Project Examples:

* Institute of Neurology - ISG Engineering Services' specialist science and health team has been appointed as main contractor on the first phase of a £300 million scheme to build a world-leading neurology centre in the middle of London for University College London (UCL).

* The Oak Cancer Centre - This striking new building, at the gateway to the world-renowned cancer hospital and research centre's Sutton site, will provide new outpatient facilities, medical day-care and collaboration space for clinical researchers to accelerate cancer diagnosis and treatment for patients

* Imperial College West London Estate, we undertook the full mechanical and electrical services to a series of research laboratories contained within an existing 12 storey building. With over 300 fume cupboards and high specification chemical resistant extract systems, this is one of the largest facilities of its type in Europe. Specialist technical areas include clean rooms, data suites, a nonmagnetic nuclear resonance studio and laser suites.

The ideal candidate will have:

* Experience working within the Science and Health Sector

* A minimum 6 years' experience in a senior management role

* Ideally the candidate will have a history working with retail clients such as ISg, Mace, McLaren.

* Have relationships with relevant supply chain including subcontractors and suppliers.

* Have significant experience delivering major projects; in order to understand the fundamentals of managing multiple project teams.
