A central government department is looking to hire an Automation Test Engineer on a permanent basis.

Their IT Division (ITD) is responsible for the provision of IT services to all the group's users. The Division has three principal areas of responsibility:

1. The provision of IT infrastructure and services for the business.
2. The definition, development and testing of bespoke software for the Department.
3. Responsibility for the overall Enterprise Architecture of the department and the logical design and business analysis of IT systems.

As an Automation Test Engineer your key duties will include:

* Act as a conduit for resolution of technical issues arising from usage of test automation tools
* Develop test automation strategy and test approach
* Design and develop automated testing frameworks
* Analyse and apply best automated and manual test approaches to maximise test coverage and optimise testing effort
* Develop and execute automated tests using the group's preferred test automation tools.
* Creating automated tests, whether adapting existing manual scripts to automation or writing own automated tests from scratch for associated work items
* Monitoring and reporting on the status of test execution of automated tests to senior stakeholders
* Maintaining existing automated frameworks, which could include refactoring existing tests to accommodating changes to certain features and improving stability of remote test execution for CI pipelines
* Liaising with other members of the QA team\/developers across multiple projects to report, triage and resolve defects
* Providing input for technical issues requiring consideration for automation
* Reporting on the progress of automated work through presentations and demonstrations to stakeholders

Ideally you will have an understanding or experience in:

* Technical knowledge and practical experience of using: Microsoft SQL and Microsoft Office suite
* Knowledge and skills to enable effective testing of one or more of these application types used by Data warehouse and Business Intelligence (BI) application and Microsoft SharePoint and related applications
* Writing automated and manual test scripts
* Salesforce Platform
* Customer-facing web-based application
* Workflow software with in-built rule-driven routing and automated alerts.
* Technical programming experience with market-leading languages (Java, C#, etc) and automated testing tools (Selenium)Automated testing
* Experience of testing one or more of the above application types in a business setting
* Experience of structured testing techniques, full test lifecycle and risk-based testing in context of testing
