Our client, a leading nature conservation charity's catering operation is looking for an *Assistant Catering Manager* to join the team.

*Salary: * £18,100.00 - £20,080.00 Pro Rata
*Hours: * Part-time (variable hours) role for an average of 25-30 hours per week
*Contract: * Zero Hour
Newport Wetlands National Nature Reserve lies between the Severn Estuary and the River Usk on the South Wales coast. It is owned and managed by Natural Resources Wales, working in partnership with our client, Newport City Council and others, for the benefit of wildlife and people.
The site is a coastal reclaimed wetland, a great destination for everyone who wants to enjoy this beautiful part of the Wales Coastal Path. The diverse wildlife includes Otters, birds, and the UK's rarest Bee. It is also, of course, home to their signature bird; the booming bittern.
For the 120,000 people who come to Newport Wetlands each year, they seek to make every one of those visits just a little bit more magical, creating a relaxing and enjoyable user experience, using where possible local products and facilitating informed choices.
*What is this role about?*
They are looking for a target driven catering professional who can provide the highest standards of customer care and team management our by way of their cultural values and assist in building the sites catering operation in these demanding times.
Catering experience in Food & Beverage is required. Full training and support on all aspects of their catering will be provided to enable you to drive sales, be a positive role model in the team and be an ambassador for the charity. You will also be provided with uniform.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the café operation, under the guidance of the Catering Manager, in line with set charity and site procedures and routines.
This role will require regular weekend and bank holiday working, cross team working with all functions within the visitor centre to ensure an excellent experience for all visitors. All employees are expected to carry out their job responsibilities in an environmentally aware manner, ensuring as little damage to the environment as possible. Their aim is to ensure all resources are utilised effectively and efficiently
This role is a Full Time, Zero hour contract Role; averaging 25 -30 hours each week as the needs of the business requires. You will need to be available to work during the day, and regular weekend and Bank Holiday working will be essential.
*The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Catering Manager in the following areas: *
* Ensuring the café is delivering the highest standard of customer care.
* Achieving financial targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to deliver against catering goals.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ensuring all catering administration, operating processes, security, food hygiene and health and safety adhere to the charity's procedures.
* Ability to manage and respond to customer needs and feedback.
* Ensuring that all catering staff and volunteers are recruited trained and managed in accordance with the charity & site guidelines and policies that results efficient team working.
* Being responsible for the planning and efficient day to day running of the café.
* Deputising for the Catering Manager during their absence
* Serving customers, handle cash and use the till system
* Preparing and serving high-quality food and drink
* Maintaining stock levels
* Working in a 'hands on' manner.
* Maintaining high hygiene standards and follow all food safety and cleaning guidelines.

* A natural leader who can influence, motivate and inspire people at all levels.
* Ability to manage and respond to customer needs and feedback.
* Successful experience of leading and managing a diverse team.
* Proven track record of Working within the Food & Beverage industry.
