Amazing opportunity to work Part Time during School Holidays supporting children and young people with learning disabilities between the ages of 5 years -18 years old to participate in their short break activities

We are currently looking for part time casual support workers to join our friendly team based in Hendon, at our Family Centre, supporting children and young people with learning disabilities during school holidays to take part in short break activities.

Norwood founded in 1795 is a leading adult, children, family and learning disability charity, that supports individuals within residential and supported living setting. Though our clients are all of a similar religious tradition, our staff represent diverse cultures and faiths, bringing their own unique perspectives and individuality to their roles.
Everyday tasks
Every day. You will have the important role of supporting children and young people with learning disabilities with personal care, meals, administering medication, moving and positioning and taking part in recreational activities e.g. arts and crafts, cooking, sport, outdoor play, soft play and sensory room.
Example of Shifts Pattern
9.30am - 4.30pm during school holidays
About you
• At least 2 years experience of supporting children and young people with learning disabilities, and or autism positive is essential; experience of positive behaviour support is desired
• Ideal for someone currently studying Health and Social Care or currently studying Nursing/ Social Care/ Teaching Assistant/SEN Assistant
• Understanding and ability to support people with a range of communication and behavioural needs
• A great team player, motivated, enthusiastic and able to build positive relationships.
• Excellent listening and communication skills are essential.
• You will also need to be able to demonstrate a good standard of written, verbal and numeracy skills, as well as good basic IT skills.
• A willingness to take part in internal and external activities is essential.
• Due to service requirements you must be over the age of 18 years old
