Your Team

We're looking for a Business Analyst to join Data.SN within Springer Nature Operations. Springer Nature is a leading publisher of scientific books, journals and magazines with over 3000 journal titles and one of the world's largest corpora of peer-reviewed scientific text data. You would be joining a new programme of work to transform how Springer Nature uses its data to create a foundation for the future, adding value to cross-organisation initiatives and kick-starting data-driven innovation. The role is based in London (UK) and you will work remotely at times with colleagues in many of our global offices including, Berlin (Germany), Heidelberg (Germany) and Pune (India). Some travel will be required.

Across the programme, our teams are cross-functional, diverse and made up of different experience levels. All team members collaborate to deliver the best solutions that satisfy our customers' needs. We build our software incrementally, iteratively, and continuously. Our flavour of agile has been heavily influenced by Lean, XP and Kanban, and if something isn't working, we change it. We are committed to growing and nurturing our people for the long-term. We spend 10% of our time working on our own projects to promote learning and innovation; as well as regular lunch n' learn sessions to share knowledge.


Your Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders to understand our goals & vision, and identify business needs
  • Working with the team you will steer exploratory data analysis, helping to design experiments that are customer focussed and data-informed
  • Gathering and generating insights to advocate data-driven recommendations across the domain
  • Communicate to the development team how the requirements are aligned with the business needs and "big picture" goals and vision
  • Collaborate and provide business analysis support to the product owner, business sponsors, SMEs and testers during development
  • Unearth the root cause(s) of pain points, and validate business opportunities and problems
  • Prioritise work and obtain buy-in from stakeholders
  • Map, analyse and validate information flows within a complex organisational setting
  • Facilitate workshops with a wide range of diverse stakeholders in the business
  • Promote business analysis best practices and principles within the BA community
  • Question and influence conclusions; focusing on customer and business value
  • About You
  • Can demonstrate experience of working successfully with teams to deliver software
    • Have excellent communication skills and are able to clearly articulate concepts and ideas; from both a technical and a business point of view
    • Have a strong focus on high-quality customer experience and sustainable solutions
    • Can demonstrate outstanding analytical ability and demonstrable experience of solving complex problems/issues
    • Proven experience and the ability to manage and resolve conflict with stakeholders
    • Experience working in fast-paced, constantly changing and dynamic environment
    • Able to use your drive, creativity and initiative to move the team and organisation forward
    • Proven experience of working successfully within Agile teams to deliver software
    • Experience in driving continuous improvement and innovation across the team
    • Have team-working as a priority and drive constant improvement on collaboration
    • Experience in coaching and implementation of Best Principles Agile, Lean and Continuous Delivery
    • Be curious and motivated
    • Actively elicits and provides feedback to drive continual self-improvement in themselves and others
    • Comfortable navigating both flat and hierarchal organisation structures; proactively building relationships to convince and influence as necessary
