Job description

Corrie Recruitment are looking for Civils Quantity Surveyor for a permanent position with a contractor based in Inverness.

JOB PURPOSE:

1. As a key member of the business you will assist the management of projects, widening the client base and developing opportunities on a profitable basis.

2. Together we will work to establish the business as a major competitor in civil engineering, renewables and road & bridge works while supporting the development of existing business clients in environmental and building works.

KEY DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES

Commercial Activities:

1. Form part of the construction team for specific contracts.

2. Assist financial and contractual control over the contracts allocated.

3. Undertake the re-measurement of all trades specific to each contract.

4. Prepare interim applications for payment.

5. Value all relevant and valid variations to the contract for inclusion in applications for payment.

6. Prepare and process supplier/sub-contractor payments.

7. Assist the Site Manager placing material orders.

8. Produce correspondence of a contractual nature in consultation with the Commercial Manager.

9. Attend all progress/team meetings as considered necessary.

Other duties/ responsibilities:

1. Developing and maintaining good professional relationships with colleagues, suppliers, subcontractors, clients and their representatives.

2. Regularly updating the Directors/Commercial Manager of any potential commercial threats and opportunities.

3. Provide any other reasonable duties as requested by the Directors/Commercial Manager

PERFORMANCE MEASURES

1. Achievement of commercial and operational targets.

2. Provision of accurate financial information.

3. Avoidance of any significant contractual disputes.

4. Relationships with key external and internal business contacts.

KEY COMPETENCES

1. The ability to negotiate terms, conditions and final accounts with sub-contractors, suppliers, clients and/ or their representatives.

2. The ability to financially and contractually control construction projects.

3. Have detailed knowledge of construction techniques and principles.

4. Have detailed knowledge of the industry's most commonly used conditions of contract

5. Good communication skills.
