Job description

New Year, new job?

Do you want to work for one of the country's leading homelessness charities supporting its clients and services across the South East of England to help increase public awareness and understanding of homelessness; and the issues people experiencing homelessness face? Do you want a job which helps support people as they recover from homelessness and fulfil their potential?

We're looking for a talented Communications Coordinator looking to step into a challenging role where you can develop your skills individually, leading on your own projects, while also working as part of a wider supportive team.

The role is varied and involves working with clients, staff and partners across our South East services, and as part of over-arching St Mungo's campaigns.

In this role you will:

  • Lead on the coordination of regional media initiatives with local partners and stakeholders on services we offer, providing expert local PR support on behalf of St Mungo's
  • Manage marketing communications activity with key strategic partners in the SE
  • Coordinate information sharing among SE colleagues and be a focal point for ensuring SE impact stories are shared with the rest of St Mungo's

About you

You will have demonstrable PR and media relations experience and a proven track record in delivering successful communication campaigns, and managing a range of internal and external stakeholders often with competing priorities.

You will also have proven skills in effectively and creatively using marketing and PR tools and channels; including digital, social, photography and film.

You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the confidence to become an able representative for St Mungo's across the South East with our various stakeholders and partners.

We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) applicants, as they are under-represented within St Mungo's at this level.

What we offer

  • We are committed to developing all of our staff via routes such as secondments, transfers and promotion. In % of our vacancies were filled by internal promotions

A Diverse and Inclusive Work Place

  • Equality, diversity and inclusion are central to the organisation's values and how we work
  • We are proud of our commitment to diversity and inclusion and have 8 great Diversity Networks to support clients and staff from different backgrounds so they are able to be their best selves

Flexible Working and Other Benefits

  • We are committed to maintaining your work/life balance. We offer 25 days annual leave, and operate a very popular Flexi Time scheme, which allows you to supplement your annual leave entitlement. After 5 years, staff annual leave entitlement increases to 28 days
  • St Mungo's contribute 4% of your gross annual salary, and you are able to enrol in the Defined Contribution scheme following a successful probationary period in which the employer contribution is 6%

What we do

At St Mungo's our vision is that everyone has a place to call home and can fulfil their hopes and ambitions. As a homelessness charity and housing association, our clients are at the heart of what we do, and in 2019 - 2020 we supported 32,800 people across all of our services. Our staff are crucial to making this happen.
