Design Coordinator - Kentish Town
Assist Engineering Manager throughout the design and construction management of rail and non-rail projects as required.
Office based but some travel to sites will be required.
What you will be doing
* Establish and promote best practice in health, safety and environmental matters in conjunction with the SHQE department.
* Produce design briefs for temporary and permanent work
* Review submissions as directed for quality and sufficiency
* Review design progress and detail using CAD/BIM tools
* Produce drawings and sketches as required using BIM/CAD tools
* Review temporary works and develop experience in this area
* Assist the Design Manager in conforming to the Murphy Design Management procedure.
* Attend team meetings as required and produce minutes when requested
* Attend site as required to liaise with Site Managers / Engineers
* Ensure that that Aconex (or client approved alternative CDE system) is kept up to date by the Document Controller and correct drawing revisions are maintained and issued to sites
* Following the above, ensure any associated registers are kept up to date.
* Monitor Information release, with guidance from the Design Manager as required and check information issued is in line with the IRS
* Liaise with the Design Manager to monitor Design progress
* Assist the Design Manager with the appointment, monitoring, co-ordination, and management of the design by consultants, MAE, suppliers, interface contractors, and outsourced designers as appropriate.
* Ensure compliance with Standards and Client requirements, and assist in monitoring to ensure working to agreed design requirements
* Monitor and report on RFI's and RFI statuses.
* Monitor and report on Design NCRs and associated close out.
* Maintain good and professional relationships with the Client, Consultants, Sub-Contractors, Suppliers and Statutory Authorities.
* Assist the Design Manager and when required liaise with the wider team such as Surveyors, Buyers, Contract Managers, Project Managers, Site Managers and Estimators to engender a team approach for each project
* With guidance from the Design Manager ensure an understanding of the contracts Design Consultants are working under including their fees, schedule of services, programme, and liabilities and warranties.
* Advise the Design Manager on the performance of design consultants.
* Assist in the marking of design consultants on their performance
* Assist the Design Manager with monitoring and reporting requirements on the project.
* Assist the Design Manager in monitoring and reporting the payment applications from consultants and pass to the contract surveyor for processing and payment.
Who we are looking for
* MEng or BEng degree, HNC/HND with additional experience a minimumFull driving license
* Construction Experience - 3 years (degree), 5 years (HND/HNC).
* Management understanding
* En-route to Chartered.
* Confident when dealing with staff, clients, figures, design issues and programmes.
* Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages, including Microsoft Project.
* Commercial understanding
* Design co-ordination and construction experience
* Design management understanding
* Understanding of digital tools including BIM and CDEs and document control systems and processes
