Job description/Person specification:We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated person for the position of Operational Lead - Building & Site Services. The role would suit a candidate who is looking for an opportunity to develop their leadership and management skills while providing the essential Line Management function for an established team primariliy comprising of, but not limited to Mechanical, Grounds and Estate Fabric Maintenance support focused individuals.Responsibilities would include:Regularly liaising with the Site Group Leader and Project Managers to ensure that the team complement and competencies meet the business demands.Being the primary Point of Contact for the pastoral and administrative requirement of the team members.Advising on the management and supervision of maintenance of buildingsSupporting the site's delivery of budget through prioritising work, reconciling conflicting demands, reviewing and revising timing of work to agreed deadlines through regular scheduling tasks via demand and supply planning meetings.Fulfil the site role expectations of the Site Asbestos Responsible Person, and additional AP duties in accordance with core trade skills.Ensuring all relevant site stakeholders have clarity on availability of facilities required to deliver the Range operational output.Providing exposure to all site stakeholders including clarity on availability of facilities and/or required resources.Ensuring effective facilitation and co-ordination of third party contractors on site, including but not limited to - contractor induction, competency checks, RAMS review.Undertaking hands on technical tasks to support the team with day to day operationsLead on distinct elements as set out by the Property Operations Manager eg. audits, risk register, Fire Risk mitigations.Key Accountabilities:Capability: Responsible for developing capability in their team in line with the requirements of the business as defined by the Head of Discipline and the Group Lead.Culture: They will develop an effective working environment that facilitates vibrant and collaborative working within their team in line with QinetiQ leadership behaviours and values.Change: Responsible for leading members of their team through change initiatives.Collaboration: Through partnership and communication, work to create collaborative working relationships that demonstrably improves team capabilityDemonstrable self-progression against Mechanical competencies.Team development: Encouraging a culture of continuous development within their team.Support the sites demonstrable compliance to regulation and ISO standards through ownership and leadership of assigned aspects. Through liaison with the Site Operations Manager, lead on a structured checks and balances regime ensuring records are maintained on the Compliance Assurance Tool (CAT) and the sites repository as necessary.Lead and conduct on appropriate Behavioural Observation and/or interventions as part of the Safe 4 Life Workplace Observations programme to monitor the 'what' and 'how' we conduct our work and that of our contractors. Ensure records of such observations are maintained through the I-REP system.Role Requirements:Trade qualifications relevant to building services such as Mechanical NVQ level 3 or apprenticeship and 5+years' experience in trade area.Strong building services technical background, able to provide advice, assurance and best practiceSound experience with dealing in subcontractor services (scope, cost and delivery). Ensuring delivery of VFM and QHSE standardsKnowledge of regulation and ISO standards through ownership and leadership of assigned aspectsWorking knowledge of HS&E Regulations including CDM, Asbestos, Risk Management, Fire Protection, Working at HeightUnderstanding of the principles of contract management and experience of procurement of suppliers including the following areas: Service Delivery Management, Relationship Management and Contract AdministrationExperience of developing and line managing others and building effective teamsAbility to challenge poor behaviours and make corrective changes in their team and in othersDelivery and technical leadership experienceHighly developed interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to quickly understand the broad and diverse technical domains that their team supports and the implications to the development and sustainment of capability.Travel across Hebrides sites including St Kilda and occasional deployment to other QinetiQ sites.Desirable Experience/Qualifications:Experience in the use of SAP Plant Maintenance of similarNEBOSH or equivalentER14 regulationsHUET QualifiedClass 2 HGVSpecialist Vehicle license(s) - e.g. Forklift, MEWP.Waste ManagementWhy join us?As we continue to grow into new markets around the world, there's never been a more exciting time to join QinetiQ.
