Role: Family Support Specialist

Location: South Gloucestershire - county wide

Hours: (37.5hrs) - fixed term contract until end of March 2022 (subject to extension)

Pay: £19,000 - £24,000

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Family Support Specialist to join our South Gloucestershire Early Help team.

Your focus will be to help children, young people and their families with the challenges they face, so that they are prepared for their future and can move on with a greater level of independence.

The service operates across the whole South Gloucestershire area.

There are many factors that impinge on an individual's ability to maintain their home. This could be poor physical health, unresolved or long-standing mental health issues, social isolation or relationship breakdown.

You will play an integral role in improving people's lives by assessing their strengths and needs and supporting them to create and access a package of support that helps them to sustain their home or move on to better accommodation.

Work with vulnerable families, within communities, to establish needs based on a full family needs

assessment and contribute to forming a robust action plan agreed with the family and other key agencies.

Map out local community groups, and resources, in order to build relationships and work in partnership.
Contribute in supporting a caseload of families.
To assist families to take decisions on what type of support they require that best meets the needs of the child, young person or family.
Provide a range of family support interventions that support the agreed family outcomes such as parenting skills, behavioural and anger management.
Prepare and deliver group parenting programmes.
Act as mediator between children and parents to stabilise and rebuild family relationships and create positive futures.
Co-ordinate the services of other specialist agencies as appropriate to meet the needs of the family ie TAF(team around the family) & TAC (team around the child) meetings.
Provide a range of family support interventions that support the agreed family outcomes such as positive parenting skills, behavioural, anger management emotional and practical 'hand on' support, in their own homes and in the community.
Support schools and other agencies develop good family support practice within the county.
Maintain accurate and up to date records of work using both computerized and hard copy files, databases and other required processes in line with CCP procedures.
Assist in the recruitment and mentoring of suitable volunteers to assist with the work

As this is a county-wide role, a full driving license and access to transport would be essential.
