What you will be doing
We are looking for an experienced Capex Financial Accountant to provide technical accounting expertise to other members of the Finance Community (e.g. Capital Delivery, Digital, etc.).
The role involves managing the external audit, review of methodologies of regulatory accounts processes from a CAPEX perspective, monitoring and developing financial and project governance controls, as well as various ad-hoc projects supporting the business and implementing process improvements reporting on Thames' £15bn fixed asset register and associated annual capital programme expenditure of c.£1bn.
A key focus for this role is interpreting the observations and points raised by our External Auditors and subsequently developing, delivering, and embedding process improvements to address them.

- Apply your accounting knowledge and skills to implement process improvements by reviewing and identifying key controls and improving the efficiency of reporting.
- Develop good working relationships with key stakeholders, engaging with the business to add value whilst developing the role and enhancing your skills.
- Be self-motivated, have a positive result-driven mindset, and strong interpersonal/ communication skills are key behaviors for this role.
- Strong analytical skills who is experienced and highly competent with regards to Excel and other Microsoft applications.
