Job description

Head of Digital Engagement

Our client is looking for an experienced and highly ambitious person to lead the digital engagement team and drive digital transformation at one of the most well-known and successful charities in the UK. Do you fit the bill?

This is a high-profile role, responsible for leading the digital engagement strategy and implementation across our client's charity. With the advent of new organisational strategies at both the hospital and charity, this is an exciting time to join the team.

You will be an experienced digital professional, with proven skills and expertise across the digital marketing mix including search, social, email, web, PPC, digital content (particularly film and photography) and digital insight and reporting. This experience should include strategy development, building campaigns from scratch, and launching new channels and digital innovations.

You will be responsible for leading and inspiring a team of digital professionals and line managing five direct reports specialising in Digital Content, Digital Performance, Social Media, Website and UX. Together, you will continue a programme of digital transformation at the charity.

They're looking for somebody with:

  • Substantial experience gained in senior digital communications/engagement roles (client-side or agency-side)
  • A proven track record of delivering results and business impact across digital channels
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • A can-do attitude and an entrepreneurial approach to work
  • A passion for all things digital, with the energy and drive to continue their work as one of the leading organisations in the sector.

About the Charity

Every day brings new challenges. Every day, over 600 seriously ill children from across the UK arrive for life-changing treatments. Every day, young lives hang in the balance as patients, families and staff battle the most complex illnesses. And every day, the brightest minds come together to achieve pioneering medical breakthroughs that change the lives of thousands of children - and change the world. This extraordinary hospital has always depended on charitable support to give seriously ill children the best chance to fulfil their potential. Without donations, our client can't help fund ground-breaking research, advanced equipment, child and family support services, and the rebuilding and refurbishment of wards and medical facilities. Their staff help to raise these vital funds for the hospital. A better future for seriously ill children starts with you.

Recently awarded with a 'Best Companies 2-star accreditation' and placed number 17 on the 2019 Sunday Times Best 100 Not-for-Profit Companies list - they offer a range of attractive benefits including; a flexible approach to working, 30 days holiday, life assurance, enhanced employer pension contributions, and a discounted season ticket loan.

Their Commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

They recognise that people from some backgrounds are under-represented in their workforce and across the wider Charity sector. In April 2021 they launched their ambitious three-year EDI strategy committing to becoming a more inclusive workforce, reflecting the diverse communities that they work with and for and demonstrating this through all areas of work.

A more diverse workforce will enable them to deliver even more impact and they particularly encourage applications from communities which are under-represented in the charity. This includes people from Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority backgrounds, people with a disability, people who are LGBT+ or who are from less advantaged socioeconomic groups.

Our client's approach to hybrid working

This role is based in the Central London office (WC1N, opposite Russell Square underground) with the option to work remotely up to three days a week.
